Die britische Band Manic Street Preachers wurde 1986 in Wales gegründet und spielt melodische, von Punk und Glam beeinflusste Rockmusik, die im Laufe der Zeit zunehmend Anleihen aus Pop und Soul übernahm. Bei den Brit Awards 1996 und 1999 gewann die Band die Preise für "Beste Band" und "Bestes Album". Die Band pflegt ein offensives und vom Sozialismus beeinflusstes Image, das sich in Lyrics und in ihrem Auftreten in der Öffentlichkeit zeigt.
