Klaus Maria Brandauer wurde 1943 in Bad Aussee geboren und kann sowohl auf der Theaterbühne wie auch auf der Leinwand große Erfolge für sich verzeichnen. Für seine Mitarbeit im Film "Jenseits von Afrika" erhielt das Burgtheater-Ensemblemitglied den Golden Globe und wurde für den Oscar nominiert. Auf der Theaterbühne nahm ihn eine breite Öffentlichkeit erstmals in Fritz Kortners letzter Inszenierung "Emilia Galotti" an der Josefstadt (1970) wahr.
Zuletzt war Brandauer am Wiener Burgtheater in "König Lear" zu sehen. Am 22. Juni 2018 feiert die Burgtheater-Ikone ihren 75. Geburtstag.
