Jacob Whitesides wurde 1997 in Knoxville geboren. Sein Interesse für Musik begann zu wachsen, als er 2008 das Bluegrass Festival besuchte. Er begann, Shows in seiner Heimat zu spielen und Coversongs auf YouTube zu stellen. 2012 erlangte er einen größeren Bekanntheitsgrad, nachdem er der der Fox-Serie "The X Factor" teilgenommen hatte. 2014 erschien seine erste EP "3 AM: The EP", die unter anderem Coversongs von John Legend beinhaltet. 2015 erschien sein erstes Album "A Piece Of Me" mit der Hitsingle "Not My Type At All".
